CTN offers training to all Portland residents or nonprofit organizations that wish to produce their own videos. They offer classes on studio production and field camera operation as well as a course on Final Cut Pro Editing. After classes you are certified to use all their equipment free of charge. The classes cost between $10 and $50 depending on how much volunteer work you would like to do. In the first seven months of 2007 just over one hundred people enrolled in classes. Let's triple that in 2008. Come down to your community station and volunteer. Enroll in classes and learn to produce your own video projects. Become a member of our Community Television Network.

I've been volunteering at CTN for about a month now. I've worked on several live television shows operating cameras and even been paid for a few of them. I've learned so much working at the station and continuing learning every time I volunteer. It has been a great experience. The first night I was there after my studio camera class, they through me on a camera to film Call in Portland, Mayor Edward Suslovic's monthly show. Since then I have worked on Prolman from the Bench, Law on the Line, Haskell from the House, and the Mayor's show again, as well as the stations first ever pledge-week telethon. I'm looking forward to working more with the station as I begin my education and hopeful future career in media production.
